A Message from Zach Zapf, Assistant General Manager

To our Passholders, Guests, and the Communities We Serve,

Sandcastle is proud to be Pittsburgh’s Hometown Water Park, a place where families from all around the ‘Burgh have come together for more than 30 years to laugh, relax, and create lasting summer memories.  

My name is Zach Zapf, and I’m the Assistant General Manager here at Sandcastle. I’ve been part of the Sandcastle and Kennywood family since 2009, with the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles across food and beverage, operations, and guest experience.  

This year marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Sandcastle as we return to family ownership, guided by our new owner’s mission of Bringing Families Closer Together by Creating Memories Worth Repeating®. That mission is more than words to us. It’s at the core of everything we do.  

From the moment you and your family arrive on Opening Day, we hope you’ll feel the care and excitement our team has poured into making your experience even more meaningful. This year, we’re introducing new events like Father’s Day Flop, Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday, and DJ Decades Weekends, along with elevated food and beverage offerings found throughout the park. Each of these new offerings was created to help families spend quality time together and make the most of every visit. 

Over the past few years, Sandcastle has undergone a major transformation with one goal in mind: creating a brighter, more welcoming park experience for our guests. If you haven’t visited in a while, this summer is the perfect time to come back and rediscover everything that makes Sandcastle Pittsburgh’s destination for family fun. Since 2022, guests have been enjoying our refreshed Boardwalk destination featuring Potato Patch fries, Bomb’s Away, a 305-foot freefall water slide reaching speeds of 26 feet per second, and refreshed favorites like the Dragon’s Den, Mushroom Pool, and Mon Tsunami Wave Pool. 

Whether it’s your first time back in several seasons, or you plan to return as a dedicated Season Passholder, we can’t wait to welcome you back for a full summer to make memories.
